19-year-old Newcastle Jets striker Riley McGree just scored the best goal in the history of the A-League.
With the Jets trailing 1-0 at home to Melbourne City, McGree exchanged a one-two with Ronald Vargas before somehow managing to chip City keeper Dean Bouzanis with a first time backheeled lob from right on the edge of the area.
Watch it here:
The goal is even more remarkable from the front angle:
It’s a difficult to even conceptualise the work needed to score that goal, let alone actually physically do it.
Even more remarkably, Jets manager Ernie Merrick didn’t even celebrate the goal:
The Jets - who finished last in the last season - have gone on to win the match 2-1, with a Jason Hoffman goal proving the difference.
They play either Melbourne Victory or Sydney FC in the A-League grand final next Saturday night — their first since 2008.
