Adelaide United have announced they have accepted the resignation of CEO Grant Mayer just over a month out from the new A-Leauge season.

Mayer has left United to take up the vacant chief executive role at the South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC).

Joining from NRL club Wests Tigers, Mayer spent two years at United, overseeing their unbelievable A-League championship win in 2016.

Mayer will start his position at the SAJC in late October, with Nathan Kosmina, son of legendary Adelaide Unitede coach and former Socceroo to take up the interim CEO position at United.

Adelaide travel to Wellington for their season opener against the Phoenix on October 8.
