Legendary Spanish striker Fernando Torres is reportedly a possibility to play in the A-League next season, according to Goal.com.

Torres had initially priced himself out of a move to Australia, but he has reportedly reduced his wage demands since.

Goal.com says that Torres initially wanted US$7 million, but has lowered that figure to $4 million.

The FFA are willing to pitch in $2 million to cover half of that, leaving an A-League club to stump up the rest.

Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC are considered the two front runners for Torres’ services, with player departures likely to leave both clubs with marquee slots free.

Torres is a free agent after his contract expired at Atletico Madrid, meaning no transfer fee would have to be paid for his services.

The 34-year-old is a World Cup and Champions League winner, and played for clubs the size of Liverpool, Chelsea and AC Milan.
