Former Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou is on his way to Japan.

Top Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos have confirmed Postecoglou will take the reins for their next season, beginning in February.

"I am excited to be moving to Japan and returning to club football," he said.

"Coaching YFM will be a great challenge and I am very much looking forward to working with the club's players and young players in particular to achieve success."

As the club is aligned to the City Football Group, Postecoglou will reportedly head over to England first to shadow Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola before beginning in Japan.

City is breaking all sorts of records this season under Guardiola, making the best ever start to an EPL season with 17 wins and one draw from 18 games.

It includes 16 consecutive wins after their 4-1 win over Spurs last weekend.

Yokohama is one of the more successful clubs in the Japanese league, finishing fifth last season and winning three titles.

They have parted ways with French manager Erick Mombaerts, who did not have his contract renewed.

Postecoglou will link up with Australian defender Milos Degenek, who plays for the club.
