According to Spanish media, Barcelona star Andres Iniesta could be tossing up a move down under.
Spanish media outlet Sport has reported Iniesta - who is leaving Barcelona at the end of this season - may not pursue a deal to play in China, as previously tipped.
Instead, they say Australia is his "preferred destination", with the report saying Iniesta wants to play in an up and coming league where his family is offered tranquility.
The Chinese club linked to Iniesta, Chongqing Lifan, has released a statement saying they will not sign him due to concerns over the size of his salary.
The 33-year-old World Cup winner has said anything outside Europe looms as a possibility.
"There are things to talk about, things to finalise," he said.
"The only thing I have always said is I would never compete against my club, so all scenarios that are not in Europe are possible."
