Chelsea midfielder Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Júnior — more widely known as Oscar, for obvious reasons — has signed a mammoth deal to move to Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.

The Premier League club confirmed yesterday that the 25-year-old will be leaving at the start of the January transfer window for the eye-watering sum of £52 million — the equivalent of 89 million Australian dollars.

Oscar’s new salary is equally as outrageous; the deal will reportedly see him take home £400,000 a week — just under A$685,000.

That means he’ll earn the average salary of an AFL player every THREE DAYS.

He will also out earn Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s yearly salary every week.

Shanghai SIPG finished third in the 2016 edition of the Chinese Super League and are managed by ex Chelsea and Spurs manager André Villas-Boas.
