The dates for the Socceroos’ final 2018 World Cup qualifiers have been locked in.

The first leg to be played in Honduras on Friday the 10th of November (Saturday the 11th Australia time), and the home game in Sydney on Wednesday the 15th.

The FFA has confirmed that the Sydney game will kick-off at 8pm AEDT, but has yet to receive venue or kick-off time confirmation from the Honduran FA.

Honduras is 17 hours Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time, meaning an 8pm Friday night kick-off over there would be:

  • A 1pm start for Victoria and NSW
  • 12:30pm for South Australia
  • 12pm for Brisbane
  • 11:30am for the Northern Territory
  • 10am for Perth.

The game is arguably the biggest soccer match on Australian soil since the famous home 2006 World Cup qualifying leg against Uruguay in November 2005.

It’s an intercontinental playoff, with Australia representing the Asian Football Confederation and Honduras the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football.

Australia qualified via a dramatic 3-2 aggregate playoff win against Syria, while Honduras finished fourth of six qualifiers in CONCACAF.
