MEDIA RELEASE: Triple M signs Australia’s Oscar Mimmovic to pen exclusive “Global Soccer Tournament Player Diary” from within Socceroos camp.

In an unprecedented decision, Australian coach Bert Van Marwijk has made a last minute addition to his 23-man squad in the form of winger Oscar Mimmovic.

Mimmovic, 27, has been plying his trade in the little publicised NK League of North Korea for the past seven years developing as a player away from the media spotlight… or any lights for that matter.

The tough and uncompromising NK League has armed Mimmovic with the ability to launch attacks from nowhere and send missiles off both feet, traits which motivated Van Marwijk to include him at the 11th hour.

The recent denuclearisation agreement between President Trump and Kim Jong-un has forced Mimmovic’s team, the Wonsan Weapons - sponsored by the local nuclear arms factory - to go into administration. The collapse of Wonsan lead to Mimmovic’s work visa being revoked and him being declared an enemy of the state.

While being transported to the nearest work camp, Mimmovic was able to escape across the border, conveniently, into Russia.

Aussie coach Van Marwijk declared this tenacity and ability to remain calm under pressure another big reason for Mimmovic’s late inclusion.

“I’m hopeful my performance in Russia will put me on the radar of the big European clubs as opposed to having been on actual US army radars during my time in the NK League,” Mimmovic said.

“I want to thank Triple M for the opportunity to diarise and share my experiences at the tournament as I’ve been unable to express my true opinion on any subject for the past seven years under threat of facing the rocket squad”

When asked about the possibility of playing in the A-League after the tournament, the young player said: “I’d develop more as a player if I’d never escaped and gone to the North Korean work camp.”

Mimmovic declared South Korea, The West and the United States as the biggest threats to Australia progressing in the tournament but expressed his excitement about going up against the world’s best players.

“I’m quietly confident about mixing it at the highest level," he added. "Having played against Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un, I’m not intimidated by names like Ronaldo and Messi!”

Triple M has acquired the exclusive rights to Mimmovic’s tournament diary throughout Russia 2018 and will be posting his entries right here at TripleM.com.au.
