When Salford City keeper Max Crocombe was sent off, few were initially sure about what really happened.

The New Zealand youth international was given his marching orders at the 86th minute during Salford's 2-1 win over Bradford Park Avenue in the National League North, England's sixth division.

If only they knew...

Bradford Park Avenue confirmed the news - Crocombe had been sent off for taking a leak during the game.

"We can confirm that Crocombe has been sent off for urinating during the game. We are not joking," they wrote.

Crocombe now faces at least a three-match ban for the act, and, if that's not bad enough, one spectator had him reported to police, according to Bradford Park Avenue club secretary Colin Barker.

"He was told by the steward twice not to do it and he went ahead and had a pee," he told Press Association Sport.

"One of our spectators has made a formal complaint so we're waiting to see what will happen from there...but there's no secret about it. It's been reported to the police."

The keeper later apologised on Twitter, saying he made "an error in judgement".

"I'd like to sincerely apologise for the incident today. I was in a very uncomfortable position and made an error in judgement which spoiled a great win," he wrote.

"My intention was never to offend anyone and I'd like to apologise to both clubs and both sets of supporters and it won't happen again."
