Former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has given an update on Tim Cahill’s ankle injury ahead of tomorrow’s crucial world cup qualifier against Honduras.

Cahill rolled his ankle playing for Melbourne City against Sydney last week, and has been racing the clock to be fit for the first leg of the tournament in Honduras.

Speaking on Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie, Bozza said not to rule Timmy out.

“I don’t think he’ll start, but I wouldn’t put it past him to make a miraculous recovery in terms of being able to come on for the last 20 minutes,” Bozza said.

“I spoke to him during the week and recently as well — it’s improved out of site.

“The first time I spoke to him last week he said ‘at least it’s not broken’… He’s a very fit boy, he has got very good powers of recovery.”

Bozza said that Cahill turning up will be inspirational for the team.

“For him to show his commitment by coming over there and being around the boys, that’s gonna be very important to them.” he said.

“There aren’t many in that side — there are a few — who have this type of experience with big games.

“He’s played in big games before, he’s played in FFA Cup finals and the Champions League… For him to be around now will be very important for him.”
