Melbourne Victory Player Receives Support After Live TV 'Panic Attack'

Melbourne Victory player Mitch Austin has received plenty of support online after suffering an apparent panic attack during a live interview.

Austin walked off the ABC News Breakfast set midway through an interview, after being asked about how the side would bounce back from last season's grand final loss. 

"Obviously it was pretty tough. Yeah, obviously we've gotta...sorry. I just need to go to the toilet," he said as he left the show.

It left the presenters a little bemused as Austin walked away from interviewer Georgie Tunny and then in front of presenters Paul Kennedy and Virginia Trioli. 

"I think that he just blanked and then had a bit of a panic attack, but he's OK," Tunny later told viewers.   

A Melbourne Victory spokesman confirmed to news.com.au that Austin had reported feeling unwell during the interview, but is alright now.   

The forward has been backed in, with plenty of viewers hoping he's okay and praising ABC's handling of the situation.
