Embattled broadcaster Optus Sport has allowed SBS to show the rest of the World Cup.

Optus won the right to televise all 64 matches of the World Cup, with 39 matches agreed to be exclusive to the telco.

However, technical issues plagued the Optus broadcasts, with public anger culminating in Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull asking for answers.

At the time, Optus blamed an “extremely large number of customers registering for the first time on Optus Sport simultaneously” and announced SBS would broadcast every group game.

They have since announced SBS will simulcast all remaining games.

"We're pleased to be able to simulcast more of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ matches with Optus," CEO and Managing Director Michael Embeid said.

"With 8 million Australians tuning into SBS's coverage to date, we know how passionate the country is about the world game and are confident fans will continue to engage with the matches as we head towards the end of the competition in Russia."
