Socceroos legend Tim Cahill has done plenty of things on football pitches across the world, both for club and country.

He has 48 goals for Australia, including our first ever world cup goal, a brilliant volley against the Netherlands, a bicycle kick against China and the finest goal ever scored in a Melbourne Derby earlier this season.

But last night, playing for Melbourne City against Melbourne Victory he managed to pull of something new — getting sent off before he even got on the field of play.

With the scores locked at 1-1 in the 87th minute, City copped an extremely contentious goal, with Besart Berisha clearly in an offside position but adjudged to not be interfering with play.

As the officials discussed the goal Cahill was stood near the fourth officials waiting to be subbed on, and when the goal was given he gave the refs such a big spray that the main referee Chris Beath decided to send him off.

Melbourne Victory went on to steal the game 2-1 after being 1-0 down until the 84th minute, consolidating their position in second and putting them six points clear of City in third.
