James Courtney will have a new number on his car when the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship begins at the Adelaide 500 in a few weeks.

He'll take on the number 25 to mark lead sponsor Mobil's 25th season of sponsoring the team, dating back to their days as the Holden Racing Team.

“Having Mobil as an integral partner to our team for a quarter of a century is a testament to the strength and integrity of our relationship," said co-owner Ryan Walkinshaw.

"It’s been an amazing journey with Mobil so far."

Scott Pye's car #2 will also carry Boost logos

That's not the only news coming out of the team.

Boost Mobile are also extending their coverage on both of the teams cars by becoming a joint title sponsor of Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing.

"Boost Mobile are a fantastic company who provide a great product and service, but also really connect to the youth market. Having such a dynamic partner onboard shows the strength and direction the team is heading."

It's not the only change for the squad after Walkinshaw Racing transformed into Walkinshaw Andretti United following a joint venture with IndyCar legend Michael Andretti and fellow American team United Racing.
