Coffee With That?

So you're on your way in to work when you duck into the servo for some petrol and a coffee.

The last thing you'd expect to see is a Supercars legend and his pit crew.

But that's exactly what happened at a Caltex service station in Northfield, in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

Lowndesy and his TeamVortex crew gave unsuspecting motorists the full Supercars experience including oil changes, tyre pressure checks and free tickets to the Clipsal 500 this weekend.

"We were surprising people with some pit stops. I actually had one person ask if these guys were dummies or actors, so I had to explain that this was in fact my real pit crew," said Lowndes.

"There was no doubt they weren't expecting me and the crew to jump out and service the car."

With his pit crew now "tuned up," Lowndes is pushing for a big result on the streets of Adelaide this weekend.

"I think experience plays a big part coming into the Clipsal 500 and we certainly know what to expect with the track and the heat," he said.

"The street circuit here is very different, but it's a great track, it's a very challenging track and probably one of the hardest tracks we go to."
