Drama, drama, drama at Mount Panorama and it's only day one!

Chaz Mostert topped the timesheets in the opening session of practice for this weekend's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

It was the first time drivers could have a crack at the track ahead of qualifying tomorrow.

But the headline stealer was Tim Slade who lost the back of his Freightliner Commodore through the Esses while leading the times.

That wasn't all.

17 year old Alex Rullo also found the concrete wall at Forrest's Elbow.

Two more practice sessions are happening this afternoon.
