One of the most loved (and hated) Supercar teams of the past 26 years has been reborn.

The team formerly known as the Holden Racing Team had its Holden money and branding yanked away in the off-season.

Fans all over Australia were torn as the factory moved its cash and support to the rival Red Bull Racing Team.

But it wasn't the end of the road for Walkinshaw Racing.

Far from it.

The team that rises from the ashes will be called the Mobil 1 HSV Racing.

Gun pilot James Courtney sticks around as lead driver with Scott Pye crossing over from DJR Penske.

The livery unveiled today is one of several the team will use in 2017 to give each of its sponsors maximum exposure.

Dominated by black it also features splashes of the red the team was famous for during some of its most successful years with the iconic lion and helmet logo on the side.

The new-look racers will hit the track for the first time at a pre-season test in Sydney on February 21.

The opening round of the Championship is the Clipsal 500 from March 2-5.
