The famous - or infamous - GT-R might one day return to a Supercar grid at a circuit near you.

At least, that's what Nissan fans will be hoping as pictures surface of a GT-R Supercar concept.

They come from design company ssMedia, which does the paintwork for DJR Team Penske and is responsible for the on-screen graphics during TV telecasts.

Wrapped in a livery which mirrors the original Altima when it was tested in 2012 and teases Nissan Motorsport's potential future in the sport.

With Altima sales ending in Australia, the GT-R (or Godzilla, as some fans like to call it) is being talked up as a suggested replacement when the new Gen II rules begin in 2018.

Nissan has already confirmed it'll keep running Altimas next year.

But might these pictures be enough to sway the powers that be to pursue a GT-R Supercar programme?
