It was his first win since a heavy crash at Bathurst in 2015 and Chaz Mostert made sure it was going to be one to remember.

But the young Ford gun might remember his Philip Island victory yesterday for the wrong reasons too.

The 25 year old copped a $3000 fine for a post-race static burnout.

‘Following an admission to the breach, the Stewards imposed a Fine of $3,000, of which $2,000 is suspended until 31/12/17,' the stewards report reads.

Teams had been instructed earlier in the weekend that 'static' burnouts were a no-no.

Mostert wasn't the only driver to cop some heat from the officials.

Simona De Silvestro was investigated for apparently blocking Scott McLaughlin on the final lap but the matter wasn't taken to the stewards.

Fabian Coulthard leads the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship with 568 points with Shane Van Gisbergen not far back on 561.

The series heads to Barbagallo Raceway north of Perth, from May 5-7.
