Safety's in the spotlight for the Supercars after a shock brake failure on Nick Percat's car at the non-points scoring round at Albert Park.

A seal used on the right-front caliper became dislodged on Percat's Commodore, resulting in the heavy crash.

The caliper was sent to the UK for investigations.

While it's the first failure seen by brake supplier AP Racing, it's decided to issue a technical update.

All teams will put a secondary cap on the outside of the existing seal to prevent any similar brake failures from happening at future races including this weekend's round at Symmons Plains.

“Because we only had a limited amount of time to look at it, we decided to put the secondary plug in that prevents the first plug easing out," AP's Ian Nash told Supercars.com.

“That effectively eliminates the potential for a catastrophic failure.”

Percat was left heavily-winded by the crash.

Brad Jones Racing carried out extensive repairs in the workshop in time to get him back on the track in Tasmania today.
