Quick Ones For Queensland

Another weekend of motorsport is on the horizon for Supercar fans.

This time we're off to Queensland Raceway for the Coates Hire Ipswich Supersprint.

So let's reel off some quick facts from Queensland to get you ready...

1. This is Lowndesy's track.

He's won 12 races here, more than any other driver. And if he's not winning, he's on the podium having landed an appearance at 15 of his last 19 races at Ipswich.

2. Can anyone stop the Kiwi?

Scott McLaughlin we mean. The Penske pilot's on a hot streak of 12 front row qualifying performances, landing him 4th on the list of front row starts behind Peter Brock (22 in a row), Allan Moffat (16) and boss Dick Johnson (15).

3. Like the back of their hand...

Garth Tander and Craig Lowndes are the only two drivers who've raced every event here since it joined the calendar in 1999. And if you like numbers, this will be the 21st time the circuit's hosted a race (there were 2 rounds each in 1999 and 2000).

4. Dirty 30...

A field of 30 cars are entered this weekend - the biggest for a sprint round of the series since Hidden Valley in 2009.

That's because four wildcards will compete in the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint - including current Dunlop Super2 points leader Todd Hazelwood.

5. Happy anniversary...

Mobil 1 HSV Racing driver Scott Pye who starts his 150th Virgin Australia Supercars Championship race on Sunday.

6. Records tumble?

Jamie Whincup is tied with Craig Lowndes for the wins record on 105.

Expect both men to extend that record before they hang up their helmets.

7. Happy birthday...

Fabian Coulthard. The Shell V-Power Racing steerer turns 35 on Friday while team owner Garry Rogers will blow the candles when he turns 72 on Saturday.

Former driver turned commentator Neil Crompton sings happy birthday on Sunday.

8. Where Art Thou Safety Car?

It's only appeared in 11 of the last 42 races at Queensland Raceway.

So for better or worse, don't be surprised if the racing remains clean this weekend.
