Australia was absolutely filthy with Formula One after it was discovered the organisation had filed a trademark on the shoey.

The shoey, for those playing at home, is the act of pouring your alcoholic beverage into your shoe and slamming said beverage down your gullet, and has long been a tradition at backyard drinking sessions across Australia.

Originally made famous by V8 Supercars driver Dave Reynolds, it was then taken to a global level by Aussie F1 driver Daniel Riccardo.

Since then, many other Aussie sporting stars including the NRL's James Maloney and the UFC's Tai Tuivasa have all guzzled down a beverage of choice from a shoe.

Yet, Dave Reynolds has told Triple M's The Weekend Legends he is pissed off with Formula One for trademarking the shoey BUT is already working on a new celebration.
