Holden's new factory team in Supercars has been launched today.

The Red Bull Holden Racing Team has officially been launched in Melbourne.

It's a new chapter for the carmaker, which has abandoned its Walkinshaw-owned Holden Racing Team to throw its money and cars into a new alliance with Triple Eight Race Engineering.

Six-time Supercar champ Jamie Whincup and reigning series winner Shane van Gisbergen were on hand at today's livery reveal which mirrors the 'matte blue' on Daniel Ricciardo's Formula One car.

It's also the end of an era for Holden with no sign of the recognisable lion and helmet logo that's been on every car since 1989.

“This year’s livery is great, and I think it’s a fresh feel for the team, I can’t wait to see how it looks on track," said van Gisbergen.

Whincup's pumped for another title run saying “it’s a good feeling to know we have the support of Holden and Red Bull as we come into a new era of the sport next year.

"It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Supercars category, there is plenty of development on the horizon."

Work's also underway on the 2018 'next generation' Commodore at the team's workshop in Brisbane.

The new warpaint will make its debut on track at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from March 2-5.
