Legend Feels Need For Speed

No stranger to success, speed has been hard to come by this season by for Supercars great Craig Lowndes

The Team Vortex driver started the campaign well back in the pack at the Clipsal 500 and the Australian Grand Prix events.

Symmons Plains saw the Lowndes of old return, recording 3rd and 4th place finishes.

While the 42 year old is out of contract at the end of the season, he denies the added pressure is impacting his work on the track.

"It will be what it is” Lowndes told Supercars.com.

“We’ve just got to keep pushing and striving for better performance."

“Roland (Dane, Triple Eight principal) will have his own opinion on that side of it and we haven’t come to a point where he’s come back to us with what next year looks like."

“Until then we’ll just focus on getting the results and working as a team."

Lowndes won't speak too much of the teething problems with new race engineer John McGregor, preferring to look ahead rather than backwards.

“He’s improving immensely week to week and we’ll take a lot of confidence out of Symmons Plains."

“I think the Sunday race was a true indication that we have speed and can run at the front."

“We’ve just got to be able to do that everywhere we go.”

Lowndesy's next test will come at the WD-40 Phillip Island 400 this weekend.

The Supercars will hit the track for practice from 12.30 (AEST) on Friday.
