Will Davison & Jonathan Webb On Their Way To Bathurst Glory Last Year

With footy done and dusted (if you don't count trade periods and the like), it's time for the petrolheads to make the annual pilgrimage to Mount Panorama.

This year's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 has been made extra special by a heap of big anniversaries.

Firstly it's 20 years since the category became V8 Supercars.

It's 40 years since Allan Moffat's Ford Dealer Team went 1-2.

And yes - sorry Holden fans - it's 50 years since the Ford Falcon XE GT's win.

To celebrate all this, it's only fitting that this year's race has a "Legends and Heroes" theme to it.

Colin Bond, Allan Moffat, Fred Gibson & Jim Richards At The Legends Announcement

Twelve of the greatest names to conquer the Mountain will be immortalised into "Legend's Lane."

The first of these greats will be announced on Friday night.

They'll be honoured with a driver's parade before the start of the race and autograph sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

And that's not all.

There'll also be a Legends Display celebrating the cars of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s in the paddock near Murray's Corner.

If you can't get the time off work to get yourself to Bathurst, FOX Sports has launched a dedicated Bathurst channel packed full of goodies all week and Triple M will broadcast live trackside this week with race reports across the weekend.

Triple M's coverage of Supercars is presented with Mobil 1. Purchase any Mobil 1TM SuperTM product for the chance to win a share of three HSV vehicles and $15,000 worth of VISA gift cards. Visit askformobil.com.au
