A 20-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder following the death of Aiia Masaarwe.
He is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court shortly.
"Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of Aiia Maasarwe," Vic Police said in a statement on Saturday.
"The 20-year-old will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court shortly.
"The charge follows an extensive investigation into Aiia’s death following the discovery of her body near Main Drive and Plenty Road in Bundoora on Wednesday 16 January about 7am.
"Police would like to thank the community and the media for the assistance that they have provided during this investigation."
