Local footy makes its return for 2019 with both the Dale Alcock Homes South West Football League and Tyrepower Manjimup Lower South West Football League.

After a long off season, all the teams are ready to go and chase the premiership

SOUTH WEST FOOTBALL LEAGUE

The reigning champs Donnybrook will be hosting Carey Park at VC Mitchell Park. Going back to back is one of the toughest things to do in footy and losing the likes of Ray Giudici, Brett Eades and Kieran Hug will be tough to cover, but will try with additions like Brett Robinson and Tom Omodei.

It's one of four games kicking off the year on Saturday, while the lone Sunday game will see the Collie Eagles clash with the Eaton Boomers.

The Boomers bolstered in the off season with Joshua Bowe returning to the South West.

Meanwhile, Out of Bounds' Alan Crane runs his eye over the ten teams in the league competition and has his say.

LOWER SOUTH WEST FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Despite this being the opening round of the season, there's just the one game to kick off the year.

However, a big crowd is expected at the home of the Manjimup Tigers as they host Deanmill.

So much has been talked about Grand Final day 2018 surrounding the Deanmill team, so it'll nice for them to move on and focus on the new season.

Coach David Fall buoyant about the team leading into the opening game.

There's also a standalone game of Colts footy on Sunday with Southerners taking on Bridgetown at 10:15am Sunday.
