A man from Sydney in his 60’s and a household contact tested positive to COVID on Wednesday June 16.

The Bondi man was alleged to have been working as an international flight crew driver whilst being unvaccinated.

At 11am on Thursday June 17, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said there had been 28 thousand COVID tests in the last 24 hours.

A total of 30 new positive cases have been discovered within those tests.

NSW Chief Health Officer Doctor Kerry Chant said, “Of the 30 new locally acquired cases to 8pm last night,28 of the cases are locally acquired and linked to the Avalon cluster. We’re having ongoing investigations into the other two cases, but they live in the Northern Beaches, very close proximity to many of the sites in Avalon”.

Until 12am on Wednesday June 23, no more than 10 people will be allowed in homes across Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Blue Mountains.

Sydney Covid Updates:

All hospitality and indoor venues in these areas are expected to revert back to the 4 square meter rule. With a capacity limit of 300 people in any indoor setting.

Berejiklian said, “In addition to those settings we are also going back to, no dancing, apart from 20 in a wedding party. Going back to no singing and no chanting, except for places of worship that were allowed up to 5”.

For the Rooster players, this could mean being forced back into their biosecurity bubble. Forced to wear face masks, and no longer being allowed to go to café, bars and travel on public transport.

Health authorities will review these settings and advise the state government on further actions on Wednesday morning.
