Police have charged a 12-year-old Manoora boy with 11 property related offences.

It will be alleged on July 25 at around midnight the boy along with another attempted to gain entry to a business on Lake Street by using a storm water grate to smash the front glass door but managed to only damage the glass and left.

It will be further alleged on July 17 the boy along with 5 others entered a Cairns City convenience store by smashing the front glass door. Once inside the group stole several packs of cigarettes before fleeing.

It will be further alleged on July 5 the boy was seen lighting a fire on Lake Street against a business roller door, extinguishing the flames and leaving prior to police arrival.

Yesterday the boy was located and arrested, he was charged with eight counts of enter premise and commit indictable offence, and one count each of attempted enter premise, light unauthorised fire and wilful damage. He was bailed with strict conditions and will appear in the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
