Smithfield officers arrested and charged a 51-year-old Woree man following the alleged theft of three pushbikes in Cairns.

It will be alleged on June 18 that a window of a van parked in an underground carpark of an Esplande hotel was smashed, and an expensive triathlon pushbike stolen.

It will be further alleged in February two pushbikes chained to a pole outside an Abbott Street hotel were stolen after the chains were cut. Police investigations, including reviewing CCTV footage, led officers to a Woree home yesterday where they arrested the 51-year-old.

He was charged with two counts of stealing and one count of enter premise and commit an indictable offence.

Police opposed the mans bail and he will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
