A Cairns sauce maker has won the 2019 Mr Chilli Awards.
They're a hit with Far Northerners.
Fenglehorn is celebrating a few wins at the National Mr Chilli Awards for 2019.
They've taken out the best of the best with first place with their Habanero sauce, while they backed it up with a 3d place with their Cayenne sauce.
Creator Mikey Hayman says their philosophy is to showcase the incredible difference in flavour that each chilli has.
"We don’t use filler vegetables in our product. Our sauces are around 40% chilli. It’s all about the flavour."
The artisan sauces were launched in March 2017 at Rusty's Markets and have been gaining quite the reputation for their taste since.
They're continuing to work with local farmers to develop a supply chain on the Tablelands and will be moving to a new facility with an almost neutral carbon footprint.
