We see many problems with this concept

A new toy that "feeds off of the screams of terror" has skyrocketed in popularity right before Christmas, which is great news for parents everywhere.

"Yellies" are voice-activated spider pets that run faster the louder you yell and they're already causing massive issues in households around the world.

First up is the rather obvious point that kids are already noisy enough as it is; supplying them with a toy that encourages them to get even noisier is possibly the nastiest thing you could do to a parent.

(Conversely, that sounds like the perfect gift for an aunt or uncle to supply. Just sayin'. And they're only $15 from Target!)

And then there's the fact that it's a spider that runs towards you while you yell. It's a recipe for disaster.

"Being the mother of a naturally loud and boisterous kid, I thought it would be the perfect Christmas present," one mum, Hilary Hard, wrote on Facebook. "Well I couldn't wait for Christmas.

"I call in Leo. I yelled at it. The spider ran for it. Leo starts screaming... the louder he screams, the faster the spider pursued him. He runs.

"And this is when we discovered the fun little feature in which the spider had a tendency to stop abruptly... pause for a couple seconds... spin in several erratic circles... and then turn towards wherever it sense sound... and take off in that direction.

"10 years from now we'll be discussing this in therapy."

It seems like the majority of the problems probably could have been solved by having just one parent on the creative team but alas, someone at Hasbro appears to have an axe to grind.

Happy Christmas!
