This morning Dan & Leigh caught up with journalist Adam Shand to talk about his new podcast 'Jailhouse Lawyer' and the TV series 'Australian Crime Stories', which is based off another of Shand's podcasts.

“Since we first started Australian Crime Stories the genre has matured. Series 3 for me is the best of breed – great journalism, great narrative and it doesn’t get hung up on itself in terms of sensationalism or over-dramatising things.”

- Shand to Mediaweek

S3E1 of the series investigates the case of 20-year-old Lucille Butterworth, who disappeared from a bus stop in 1969. Seven years after the mysterious disappearance, rapist and murderer Geoffrey Charles Hunt confessed to killing Lucille, but police did not take him seriously, and despite evidence found in 2016 linking Hunt to the murder, he received no charges.

Careful not to give away any episode spoilers, Shand told Mediaweek that the investigation hasn't come to any resolution yet, but moving from a podcast to TV allows has helped to move the story forward, adding:

“I am all about getting cases solved now. I am not happy with just telling the story. I want to take it forward to try and resolve it.”
