Adelaide defender Luke Brown will go under the knife to repair an injury to his left ankle, sidelining him for two months.

Brown will require surgery in his plantaris tendon in his ankle, which Crows high performance general manager Matt Hass says was limiting his ability to train fully.

“Luke’s plantaris tendon is limiting his ability to complete the pre-season loads required to prepare for AFL football,” he said.

“He had progressed well with conservative management of an ankle impingement issue through the pre-season but with a return to full training, the plantaris tendon is now causing symptoms that limit him.

“He will undergo surgery to the tendon and ankle this week.”

Brown has become a mainstay in Adelaide's backline, playing 132 of a possible 138 games over the past six seasons.
