Adelaide rookie Patrick Wilson will be ineligible for selection for the first two rounds of the upcoming AFL season after being caught drink-driving.
The 24-year-old has been fined $2500 - which will be donated to an appropriate charity - as well as being directed to attend a number of education and community programs.
Adelaide's head of football Brett Burton said the club was extremely disappointed in Wilson's actions.
“It is a serious breach of the standards we set for our players, coaches and staff both on and off the field, and importantly the expectations of the wider community,” Burton said.
“Paddy is obviously regretful of his actions, has taken full responsibility, and the Club will provide him with the necessary support and further education.”
Wilson has played one game at AFL level, against Hawthorn in round 13 last year.
