OzFish Sunraysia has installed a new Solair group aerator into the Lower Darling River.
The group acquired two of the aerators recently as a result of donations by BCF and OzFish Unlimited, as well as via a crowdfunding campaign.
Responding to the fish death crisis at Menindee, the local OzFish branch appealed for support, to help bring a short-term solution to the surviving native fish nearby.
The aerators work to oxygenate the water, to help fish that’re being starved of oxygen in the ailing river system.
Volunteers say it was an emotional installation and were happy when the first bubbles rose to the surface on Thursday.
