A man will spend the next 2 months behind bars, after being deemed a 'flight risk' by a Wyong court judge while waiting to be tried on assaulting occasioning death charges.

49 year old Bateau Bay Man George Habkouk allegedly ran at and punched Terrigal father of one Haydn Butcher at the Entrance on New Year's day.

The 31 year old fell and hit his head on the concrete on Fairview Avenue, and died from his injuries in Royal North Shore a day later.

The incident apparently took place after an altercation inside the Lakes Hotel, during which a female member of Mr Habkouk's staff was assaulted by a man. Mr Butcher was not involved in this incident.

The Herald reports the women then ran after her supposed assaulter, and that Mr Butcher raised his elbow and knocked her to the ground.
