Sharks player Andrew Fifita is not shy to controversy on the football field, off it however is a different story, as told by the mother of a boy seriously injured last weekend.

Kincumber Colts U16’s player Harley Dimech was on the receiving end of a scary injury during a game over the Anzac Day long weekend. The youngster copped an elbow to the throat in an eerily similar incident to what happened to Sharks player Andrew Fifita during the 2021 season.

Harley’s mother Tracy Dimech joined Paddy and Rob Palmer this morning to talk through the weekend’s scary events ‘That afternoon (after the game) he became not able to breathe’ she said, ‘and he (Harley) basically looked at me and said mum I need to go to the hospital’.

After spending a couple of nights in ICU, Harley is now fortunately on the mend and expected to make a full recovery, and return to a football pitch near you soon. But before the Kincumber Colts player left hospital, he had one more surprise from one of NRL’s biggest names when Fifita found Harley's number and FaceTimed him for a chat about his injuries and how he and his mum were going.

"[Fifita] is one of the most misunderstood guys in League," said Tracy after her experience.
