“You know we love this state, we are a very proud sporting state, but at times we are comfortable finishing second, middle of the road or last, in all our sporting teams in South Australia on a national basis, and I’m sick and tired of it,” Jars said.

“I’m fed up with it.

“The Adelaide Giants (Australian Baseball League) got beaten on the weekend… they could’ve won their first championship after 40 odd years, they had a great opportunity.

“Now, look. Well done to get there, but not good enough… so it just got me thinking about where’s it all at?

Jars feels the malaise is affecting the entire state.

“I’m talking about all our South Australian teams,” he said.

“I’m talking about our Adelaide Quit Lightning girls, our bloody 36ers are on the nose at the moment, they gave up on the weekend… Adelaide United on the weekend no [James] Troisi, no Reds, and I said United, P. W. (pissweak), and the Crows girls got done on the weekend.

“Now I know they won the flag on the weekend, but this year, no [Chloe] Randall, no [Erin] Phillips, and I wrote down here out of frustration they’ll finish last… our Redbacks have been poor, they’ve been on the nose, our two respective footy clubs, been on the nose, haven’t they? They’ve teased and teased and teased.”

Jars said it was time to up the standards in the state.

“We gotta do more,” he said.

“Facility wise, we gotta have elite standards, we gotta have the best coaches in the world.”
