Veteran crime writer Andrew Rule gave a cryptic update on the mysterious case of the couple that went missing in the Victorian High Country on the Hot Breakfast this morning.

“I wonder if the war on terror could benefit the Victoria Police,” Rule said.
“I understand that the police are very interested in state of the art investigations on mobile phones.
“You know, who went where and when and all that sort of stuff, and it’s conceivable — and I’m making this up, ok, so don’t hold me to this — it’s conceivable that overseas agencies in other big countries are pretty good at tracing mobile phone traffic because of the war on terror, and it’s conceivable that certain mobile phone records and other things are being looked at overseas right now in order to see if certain people were in the area at the time.”
