To some the best form of revenge is to do nothing at all.

Although one bloke believes revenge is best served in the form of a 16-foot giant statue, that's filliping the bird to the his entire town.

Ted Pelkey, from Vermont in America's north-east, is still bitter after his plan to build a huge garage on his own property to run his truck repair business was denied by the town's leaders.

We probably should mention, his case was dismissed by the Westford Selectboard and Development Review Board more than 10 years ago.

Well the 54-year-old decided it was time to get even.

Pelkey spent $5,000 to build this massive structure, erecting the hand on a 16-foot pole on his front-lawn for the entire town to see.

"I haven’t been treated fairly at all. I was sitting at a bar and said to my wife, ‘Hey, I want to get a statue made of a middle finger, and I’m going to put it up on the lawn’,” he told Boston.com.

Initially he thought he would be made to take down the statue but because it isn’t advertising a business it falls under the category of public art, which is protected by free speech.

"It is aimed directly at the people who sit in our town office. I’m not trying to cause hate and animosity to the people who live in that town, because there’s very good people in that town,” Pelkey said.

Pelkey even placed two huge floodlights on the sculpture so it was visible day and night.
