Mark "MG" Geyer has fired up about news that the Melbourne Storm has axed its cheerleaders, declaring it "another nail in our coffin".
The club has instead said it will hold auditions for a "gritty street crew" that will bring together "amazing performers across hip hop, street, break dancing and acrobatics".
It will also welcome male performers into its new squad for the first time.
But MG has slammed the decision, saying that it's a step in the wrong direction for the Storm who, he says, have cultivated enormous fan appeal.
"We had Graham Annesley [Head of Football for the NRL] on the show earlier in the week, talking about making the on-field product entertaining and attractive," MG said on Thursday's The Rush Hour with MG.
"What about the off-field stuff?"
