As the NRL prepares to play behind closed doors for the first time tonight, they could be forgiven for trying to pump a bit of atmosphere into the empty stadiums.
Round 2 of the NRL will see fans locked out in a bid to protect patrons and players against the spread of COVID-19 and tomorrow night the Broncos will face South Sydney in front of 50,000 empty seats.
Speaking on The Big Breakfast this morning, Former Broncos captain and Queensland NRL legend Gordie Tallis told listeners that despite the measures he’s relieved that the competition is going ahead
“It’s going to be strange for some players but all in I’m just glad it’s on” he told Margaux, Marto and Nick Cody
Interestingly, it looks the plans will go ahead to feature artificial noise to give the Broncos some form of home ground advantage and Tallis had some surprising thoughts

It will be a truly bizarre night of football with the typical hype of Wayne Bennett returning to Suncorp Stadium being grossly overshadowed by the Coronavirus. However, the 'Supercoach' has masterminded his own strategy to protect his players with private charter plans to get his Bunnies in and out of Brisbane as quickly as possible.
