Forty years ago Australia II Skipper John Bertrand brought Australia together with the ultimate comeback story - taking Australia to victory in the America’s Cup.

Now the Aussie Icon is the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Chair, and this week he caught up with Angie for Breakfast to talk about two more legendary Australian sportsmen: Dennis Lillee AM MBE and Ian Thorpe AM.

Lillee and Thorp have both been elevated to Legend status in the nation’s most prestigious sporting club, the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, and it's not hard to understand why. 

“Lillee caught the imagination of this country with his bowling and his intimidation of the opposition around the world - the way he held himself he was just a champion among champions, the best of the best,” he said.

“And of course, Ian Thorpe just blew the opposition away, particularly at the Sydney olympics in Sydney, just 17 years old at that time…again he captured this country’s imagination,”
