Australian teenager Keegan Palmer has won gold at the first-ever Skateboarding event at the Games.

With a stunning first run sitting atop the leaderboard among the Men's finalists, Palmer knocked his own best out the park in run three with an Olympic high score of 95.83.

Born in San Diego, Palmer moved to Australia at a young age, where he learnt to surf and found a passion on the water.

Growing up in Gold Coast, Palmer made the transition to skateboarding and entered Tokyo ranked #7 in the World Skate male park rankings.

17-year-old Kieran Woolley also competed in the final at the Ariake Urban Sports Park - finishing in the top five representing the green and gold.

Australian national team are now up to a total of 17 gold, 4 silver, and 17 bronze with a handful of day's events to come.
