Australia Day Ambassador Juliette Wright hits the Southern Downs for Australia Day

The Australia Day Ambassador for the Southern Downs, Juliette Wright, will arrive in the region next week to take part in local Australia Day celebrations.

Driven and inspired, Juliette Wright is on a mission to alleviate the effects of poverty across Australia. Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GIVIT, Mrs Wright established the portal givit.org.au in 2009 to connect those who have with those who need.

Mrs Wright’s vision, hard work and determination has resulted in nearly 350,000 items donated through GIVIT to assist vulnerable, marginalised and impoverished Australians, earning Juliette the title of Queensland and Australia’s Local Hero 2015.

Mrs Wright said she was very excited to be an Australia Day Ambassador and to be part of the Southern Downs’ celebrations.

“Being the Ambassador for the Southern Downs will be a real honour this Australia Day,” she said, “I can’t wait to meet all the local heroes in the region and hear the incredible things they’ve been doing for our community.”

Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie welcomed news that Juliette Wright will be this year’s Ambassador for Australia Day in the Southern Downs region.

“I am thrilled that Juliette Wright is joining us for our Australia Day celebrations this year and look forward to meeting her. Mrs Wright will provide an Ambassador’s address and participate in our Australia Day Awards and Citizenship ceremonies.

Australia Day celebrations will be held at Glengallan Homestead, 18515 New England Highway Warwick and at Weeroona Park, corner of Marsh and Lock Streets, Stanthorpe.
