Australians were urged to keep up the high Covid testing rates despite the low number of local cases being detected following the lifting of Victoria's fourth lockdown on Friday.

Victoria recorded one new locally acquired case of Covid 19 on Friday, following the relaxation of the state's fourth lockdown. Victoria's Department of Health and Human Services said investigations into the origin were underway. No sources were found for the previous infections of a family of four from Reservoir or the couple who travelled to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast before testing positive.

No new local cases were recorded in Queensland from over 7,700 tests taken. A new vaccination hub opened on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, where concerns continued after the couple who travelled from Melbourne, despite hotspot rules, tested positive.

New South Wales Health confirmed that testing clinics were set to open during the long weekend, urging residents not to delay tests after the aforementioned couple passed through the state en route to Queensland.
