Basil Admits He Thought He'd Have Kochie's Job

We've had a whole week of Ask Us Anything and today, it was the Lord Mayor's turn.

This morning, Basil got a call from Brad, who asked whether there was any truth to the rumour that he was being groomed for Kochie's job on Sunrise.

"Look. It's not for me to say that I was going to replace Kochie,

"There was, a sense of expectation that if they didn't have a role for me, they wouldn't be flying a guy from Perth every weekend."

Things went up a notch when Xav kicked in and asked whether Basil was disappointed that Kochie chose to stay on.

As Basil rightly points out, it'd be pretty hard to do the Lord Mayor role from Sydney, so it would seem that ship as sailed.

Which is great for Perth!
