Locals are urged to be prepared for traffic delays near the school and intersection along St Georges Road.

The streets redevelopment have begun, with works underway to deliver improved lighting, amenities on street parking and encourage safe pedestrian movement.

The $322,000 project will focus on improvements to the shopping precinct between Hayes and Swallow Streets.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said this is a big step forward for St Georges Road.

“This is a great step to progress the street precinct with additional lighting, improved pedestrian walkways, seating, trees and to improve the visual appeal of the St George’s Road shopping precinct. Shoppers will have an improved user experience once completed.”

“Of course, there will be some disruption to road users and businesses while the works occur, however it will be worthwhile in the end.”

- Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe

The project is due for completion in May 2018.
