Former Bronco and Fox League host Ben Ikin has opened up about the cheeky swipe Wayne Bennett took at him when he revealed the results of his personality test during his playing days at Red Hill.

Ikin, who is the son-in-law to the supercoach, penned a column for Fox Sports yesterday suggesting that if playing professional Rugby league is bad for a players mental health then the NRL may not be for the best place for them . The article comes off the back of Darius Boyd’s lambasting of the media’s ongoing coverage of Latrell Mitchell’s off-field issues.

The seventeen-time Queensland Origin representative, who is now host of NRL 360 on Fox League, spoke this morning on The Big Breakfast, defending his stance against those who criticize the media for doing their jobs.

When quizzed on whether clubs are doing enough to protect the mental welfare of vulnerable players Ikin went on to reveal his, then, coach’s response to outcome of a personality test he undertook provided by the team’s sports psychologist.

“It’s the exact opposite of what you should be saying to somebody who’s clearly got sensitivity issues” Ikin told Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody.
